Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything

Don Tapscott & Anthony Williams, Penguin Group (USA) Inc.
ISBN: 1591841380

352 Pages, Hardcover

Recent changes and developments in technology, demographics, a global economy and of course, the internet - have resulted in collaboration on a grand scale: from consumers to 'pro-sumers', from hierarchies to new models of community and organization.

Wikinomics is about 'the art and science of peer production". In other words - mass collaboration. Basically, the book addresses the new way to learn, socialize, share, entertain, innovate and transact - all in peer to peer communities of choice.

My 2 Cents

More than a year after it was released, I was late to the game in reading this book. Even so, the premise felt so painfully obvious - true yet still futuristic. I'd consider this book a must read regardless of your level of knowledge or immersion in this area.

Wikinomics is insightful and thought-provoking (even if it does drag on a bit, here and there, and now and again). So read it - but don't feel guilty if you skip a chapter or two. You'll still get the point and you'll learn something new that you thought you already understood in the process.
