Contest Rules and Regulations

Who Can Enter:

This Contest is open to all persons who are legal residents of Canada on June 1, 2012. Employees of Canadian Marketing Association, Sequentia Environics, Fairmont Royal York Hotel and World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT2012), their subsidiaries and affiliated companies and each of their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, advertising or promotional agencies, and persons with whom any of the foregoing are domiciled are not eligible to participate in this Contest.

Contest Promoter:

This Contest is being promoted by the Canadian Marketing Association.

Contest Period:
The Contest starts on June 1, 2012 and closes on June 11, 2012 at 11:59 PM EST.

How to Enter:

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.
Anyone who re-tweets the following statement “RT Social Media Conf. in Toronto: June 13, spread the word! #cmasocial http://bit.ly/LQmEnf” will be entered in this Contest. Participants must retweet the statement using the hashtag #cmasocial. Each person who retweets the specified statement above using the hashtag identified will receive one entry into the draw. Multiple retweets will not result in multiple entries into the contest.

Registration at the Social Media Conference is not necessary to enter and will not increase your chances of winning. To enter without re-tweeting, please write your primary e-mail address (if applicable), along with your full name, mailing address, date of birth and phone number on a 3x5 index card and mail it to: Canadian Marketing Association, 607- 1 Concorde Gate, Toronto, ON, M3C 3N6 to be received on or before the Contest close date, June 11, 2012 at 11:59 PM EST. A maximum of three entries per person will be allowed, regardless of entry method. All mailed entries must have a return address. Canadian Marketing Association is not responsible for lost, late, damaged, illegible, stolen, misdirected, misidentified, postage due or incomplete entries, for any problems or technical or mechanical malfunction of any telephone systems, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any entry to be received by Canadian Marketing Association on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or inaccurate entry information, whether caused by equipment, programming used in this Contest, human processing or otherwise, or any combination thereof. Entries become the property of Canadian Marketing Association and will not be returned.

Eligibility:

  • No purchase necessary
  • This contest is open only to individual legal residents of Canada, who have reached the age of majority in their province of residence (excluding the Province of Quebec) as of June 11, 2012 and have re-tweeted #cmasocial Social Media Conf. in Toronto – June 13, spread the word – retweet @ #cmasocial for a chance to win stuff
  • Excluded from eligibility are employees of the Canadian Marketing Association, Sequentia Environics, Fairmont Royal York Hotel, World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT2012) and their immediate families (parents, siblings, children and spouses).
  • Void in Quebec and in other jurisdictions where prohibited by law or where licensing is required.

Random Draw:

Two (2) entries will be selected in a random draw from among all eligible entries received. Draw will be conducted on June 12, 2012 at the offices of Canadian Marketing Association, 607- 1 Concorde Gate, Toronto, ON, M3C 3N6 Canada. In order to be declared a winner, selected entrants must first correctly answer an unaided time limited mathematical skill-testing question, to be administered by e-mail or mail, and his/her entry must have been verified by Canadian Marketing Association. Canadian Marketing Association reserve the right to require proof of age and jurisdiction of residence prior to awarding any prize. If a minor is selected, the parent or legal guardian of the selected entrant must sign an affidavit, in order for their child to be declared the winner. The prize will be issued in the parent or legal guardian’s name.

The first name randomly drawn (Prize 1) will be declared winner of the ticket to The World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2012).

The second name randomly drawn (Prize 2) will be declared winner for a dinner for 2 (teppan yaki) at The Fairmont Royal York’s Benihana Japanese Steakhouse Restaurant.

Prize:
Two (2) prizes will be awarded.

Prize 1 will be awarded to the first name randomly drawn on June 12, 2012. Prize 1 includes a single ticket to The World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2012), in Montreal, Canada on Oct 22-24. No substitutions of prizes are permitted except by Canadian Marketing Association. Winners are solely responsible for all costs not specifically identified above as included in the prize. All prizes will be awarded. The odds of winning are dependent upon the number of eligible entries received.

Prize 2 will be awarded to the second name randomly drawn on June 12, 2012. Prize 2 includes a dinner for 2 (teppan yaki) at The Fairmont Royal York’s Benihana Japanese Steakhouse Restaurant. No substitutions of prizes are permitted except by Canadian Marketing Association or Fairmont Royal York Hotel. Prize does not include travel or accommodations. All prizes will be awarded. The odds of winning are dependent upon the number of eligible entries received.

No more than the above-stated number of prizes will be awarded.

Winner Notification:

Selected winners will be notified by twitter, email, mail or phone within 48 hours of the draw. Selected winners will be required to acknowledge by phone, via email or in writing his or her receipt of notification of eligibility for prize and correctly answer a time limited mathematical skill-testing question. If no response is received by Canadian Marketing Association within three (3) business days of notification, the prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate winner in a random draw selected from the remaining eligible entries.

General:

Neither Canadian Marketing Association nor Sequentia Environics, World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT2012) & Fairmont Royal York Hotel are responsible for any costs associated with claiming any prize. Winners are solely responsible for the reporting and payment of any and all taxes, if any, that may result in claiming a prize in this Contest.

Entries in any way tampered with, forged, mutilated, incomplete, illegible, photocopied or mechanically reproduced, or submitted by or through fraudulent means, may be disqualified, in the sole discretion of Canadian Marketing Association. This includes any entry that does not comply with these Contest Rules in any respect.

Decisions of Canadian Marketing Association are final on all matters of fact, interpretation, eligibility, procedure and fulfillment in respect to this Contest. Canadian Marketing Association reserve the right at any time to withdraw this Contest or to modify, amend, or supplement these rules, in its sole discretion, subject to applicable law.

By participating in this Contest, the winners consent to the use by Canadian Marketing Association of their name, hometown, age, and photograph for any lawful purpose, without further permission or compensation, except where prohibited by law. The winners agree to abide by and be bound by these Official Rules.

Canadian Marketing Association, Sequentia Environics, Fairmont Royal York Hotel & World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT2012), their subsidiaries and affiliated companies and each of their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, and legal advisors are not responsible for and shall not be liable for: (i) telephone, electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties of any kind; (ii) failed, incomplete, garbled, or delayed computer transmissions; (iii) any condition caused by events beyond the control of Canadian Marketing Association that may cause this Contest to be disrupted or corrupted; (iv) any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising in connection with or as a result of the prize, or acceptance, possession, or use of the prize, or from participation in this Contest; or (v) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with this Contest. Canadian Marketing Association reserve the right, in their discretion, to suspend or cancel this Contest at any time if a computer virus, bug, tampering, unauthorized intervention, or other technical problem of any sort corrupts the administration, security, or proper play of this Contest. Canadian Marketing Association also reserve the right to disqualify, in their sole discretion, any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the Web site, or who is otherwise in violation of these Official Rules. Any attempt to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, Canadian Marketing Association reserve the right to prosecute violators to the fullest extent allowable by law.

By participating in this Contest, each participant agrees to release and hold Canadian Marketing Association, Sequentia Environics, Fairmont Royal York Hotel & World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT2012), their subsidiaries and affiliated companies and each their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, and legal advisors, harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with this Contest or resulting from acceptance, possession, or use of any prize, including without limitation, personal injury, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy.

Any issues concerning the validity, interpretation or enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrants and the Canadian Marketing Association, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without giving effect to any conflict of law rules which might find otherwise.

With respect to Québec residents, any litigation respecting the conduct or organisation of a publicity Contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
