A highly accomplished senior executive with experience in marketing and product strategies, John is currently in the position of President & CEO for the Canadian Marketing Association (CMA). In this role, John provides the overall strategy and execution of the CMA mandate and champions the fundraising and product development of a new Chartered Marketer designation. Prior to this role, John spent over 20 years as a senior executive in the financial industry. His core strengths include product design, branding, promotions and communication.

John is renowned for using a combination of diplomacy, tenacious leadership, strong core values and objective decision making to deliver results. His strong leadership and operational expertise as well as his people-first approach has left a significant impact on the companies he has worked for and the people he has worked with.

Tony was born and raised in Liverpool England, which explains his passion for The Beatles and English Football. He gained a first degree in Economics and Psychology and a Masters degree in Marketing from the University of Manchester. He worked for 10 years in the UK as a Strategic Planner and emigrated to Canada in 1990.

In Canada, he started with Leo Burnett, moved to Grey, set up his own brand planning consultancy for a few years and most recently was with DDB.
He has always worked in the strategic planning discipline and is fortunate to have worked with 14 of the world’s top 20 brands. During his career, his thinking has helped to sell millions of dollars worth of products on behalf of his Clients and helped DDB become Canada’s most effective and creative Ad Agency for 8 years running.

He has 4 sons who were all born in Toronto and currently lives in Prince Edward County in a 200 year old farm house with his wife and 2 dogs. He is an accomplished musician and occasionally bashes out Beatles numbers!
