CMA submission to Industry Canada on Canada's Anti-Spam Law (CASL)

The Canadian Marketing Association is pleased to take this opportunity to respond to the Electronic Commerce Protection Regulations issued by Industry Canada on January 5, 2013.

The Canadian Marketing Association remains broadly supportive of legislation that will reduce the amount of email spam and increase confidence in e-commerce. Since the legislation was first tabled in Parliament, we have pressed for an anti-spam framework that equips regulatory authorities to go after the real problems – bulk message spammers and the purveyors of fraudulent offers and computer viruses – without unduly burdening responsible, law-abiding organizations.
